Tree Pruning

All of our pruning services are completed using industry guideline pruning cuts that will not cause further damage, harm or distress to the tree.

Always consult a professional arborist service when considering pruning services regardless of the size of the tree. Tree lopping often causes ongoing issues by creating rapid weak regrowth such as epicormic regrowth. We offer a range of pruning services depending on your needs and aesthetic desires. This includes full crown reductions, thinning and crown raising. All of these techniques are used to maintain the health and appearance of your favourite statement trees.

Specialist pruning services include:

  • Crown raising

This involves removing weight from the underside of the tree canopy, allowing air flow, more even weight distribution and keeps the stem tidy and free of brush.

  • Crown reduction

This involves reducing the crown from all aspects to reduce the overall size of the tree.

A correct crown reduction will always reduce limbs back to a union at least a third of the size of the cut to encourage healthy recovery. The canopy is never reduced more than 30% to avoid putting the tree into shock. Non-industry guideline techniques including tree lopping can cause shock, rot, and deadwood. This compromises the safety of the tree and of other trees, persons, or buildings in its vicinity.

  • Limb weight reductions and canopy thinning

Reducing the weight of existing limbs improves the safety of the limb and reduces the risk of falling branches. It also takes strain off of the main stem which improves the overall health and life of the tree. This does not have to be an entire canopy weight reduction, it can be for singular or multiple limbs that are a cause for concern.

  • Deadwood removal

The removal of dead, dying, damaged and rubbing limbs will improve the aesthetics of your tree and will improve its overall safety. Even snapped out limbs that hang in your canopy can cause damage to other healthy limbs by resting against them. These limbs should be removed as soon as possible.
